Technical Recommendations for Document Capture
Follow these recommendations to optimize document processing and OCR recognition.
Proper Lighting
Good lighting significantly improves OCR results. If the image is too dark or too bright, data extraction may fail or produce errors.
Avoid Reflections
Glare and reflections disrupt processing and reduce data extraction accuracy. It is recommended not to use the mobile device's flash when capturing document images.
Focus and Sharpness
Ensure the image is clear and does not contain any blurred or unfocused areas.
Capture Angle
The document tilt angle should not exceed 15 degrees in any direction, either horizontally or vertically.
Margins
There are two types of margin adjustments:
- Too Small Margins: Ensure the document is not too tightly cropped to the edges. It is recommended that the document occupies between 75% and 85% of the total image area.
- Too Large Margins: Avoid excessive space around the document. It is recommended that the document occupies between 75% and 85% of the total image area.
Contrast
The document should clearly contrast with the background.
Note: Light-colored documents on light backgrounds or dark-colored documents on dark backgrounds may hinder accurate recognition.
Extraneous Objects
Ensure your hands or other objects do not cover or interfere with important document data during image capture.
Avoid Distortion
When scanning passports or similar documents, verify pages are properly aligned and all details are clearly visible.
Desirable Requirements:
Camera Features:
- Minimum recommended resolution: HD (1280×720 pixels).
- Autofocus enabled.
Having these features will help achieve optimal results in document processing and OCR recognition.
